Here is a thought.. it can start by not taking sweeties pain pills when you have a head ache.. pills we don't even think about... alot of ppl is "drug" users and don't even know it.. and alot of ppl just wanna yammer and never do anything.. but educational programs.. no those won't work.. usually geeks don't even think about drugs because they don't have many friends no way.. and from what I have seen and been around.. it's usually adults that offer the kids first. That concerns me more than anything. I think all the school programs we have now is adaquite... it also doesn't matter if you have upteen things for kids to do if they are going to do it they are. Nothing will change that fact. Kids don't do it cause they are bored. it's cause they are being told how wonderful it is by a pusher. In my professional opinion the only way to combat this is to make sure the kids knows the other end of their "high" and to talk about the myths a pusher might tell them. Like I know once I was told Coke would make me loose weight and that it's not addictive if you use it a certain way.. little did this person know I had just finished medical training... but what if this was told to some one with out the knowledge I have... cause he told it good.. one could tell he had been at this for along time.. just my opinion..
