Subject: peperomia languishing

my formerly low-maintenance peperomia (spelling?) is wilted, dead except for a few small leaves in the center of the plant. Should I just cut off what's dead and see if it revives itself, or is there something specific I should do?
TIA

Which peperomia do you have, do you know? If not, could you describe the leaves?

if it was healthy before somethings probably gone wrong in the soil, like its not getting water,or too much water to parts of the rootball.
i think i would take it out of the pot and examine the rootball, apply a little pressure and see if it crumbles.
add new soil after crumbleing everything away that comes off easily.
just my opinion.knowing what kind as liz asks will help too.

no idea ... maybe I wrote it down somewhere, actually I remember where now but it was an on-line journal ...

the leaves are dark red ...

I'll check the root ball as suggested, and look for other places I might have recorded the name. I'm pretty good at houseplants - at killing them.
