Subject: How are you all here? How are you, Denny?

How are you all - the last time I called it was very quiet!
Has anyone got any new houseplants?
I came across Castanospermum australe, black bean tree or Moreton Bay chestnut - has anyone any experience with this?
I was sent two beautiful starts of Maranta, the rabbit's footprint one and the herringbone one; the latter has just produced its first little root - I'm rooting it in a tall plastic sweet bottle with the lid on; the other had little roots and tubers already - it prays away busily every night! I love those plants.
I got Stromanthe sanguinea variegata and S. amabilis over the past few months - they also pray! And last week I bought Calathea zebrina! This family of Marantaceae is one I never knew much about before - now I'm bowled over by them.
As I sit here typing, the BBC is running its final programme on the Chelsea Flower Show.
Denny, I have several little trees in pots now, oaks and a damson, maples and cherry trees, potentillas, winter jasmine, chaenomeles.
And the sender of the Marantas, a friend indeed, sent me the variegated strawberry geranium (Saxifraga stolonifera variegata) I was looking so hard for.
I'd love to hear about everyone else's plants!

Denny, I'm so sorry you had that trouble, and I'm glad Denise is better now. My husband also got cancer last year, cancer of the larynx, and please God he's overcome it too. He went back to work six weeks ago after nearly a year off! I suppose if you have to get it, better now than years ago! A prayer gone your way!
