Fran Rogel – Penn State and Pittsburgh Steeler football great during the 40’s and 50’s died of Parkinson’s at age 74.
Bob Lackey – Star basketball player at Marquette University who later played in the NBA and ABA died of cancer at age 53.

Flora Lewis – Journalist, columnist and expert on European affairs who wrote the books “Europe: Road To Unity" and "Europe: A Tapestry of Nations” died of cancer at age 79.
Caroline Knapp – Author of “Drinking: A Love Story” who was diagnosed with lung cancer in April, married for the first time in May, died of the disease at age 42.
Tibor Scitovsky – Economist and social critic who penned the controversial book “"The Joyless Economy: An Inquiry into Human Satisfaction and Consumer Dissatisfaction" died at age 91.

Keith Fuller – Former president of the Associated Press who guided the organization into the age of satellites from teletypes died of Alzheimer’s at age 79.
Nathan Mantel – Bio-statistician best know for development of the Mantel-Haenszel Method, which established a way to correlate a hazard and the risk of disease died of a heart attack at 83.
