Suppose you start your computer only to find the mouse isn't working. What to do?

Use the keyboard the same as you would your mouse.

To do this, press the [Windows] key (usually between the [CTRL] key & the [ALT] key) to bring up the [Start Menu].

You can cycle through the Start Menu options by using your keyboard's Arrow keys (start with the Up Arrow Key).

Once the item you want is highlighted, press [Enter]. For instance, if you want to go to "My Computer", use the Arro keys to highlight it & press [Enter]. You can then navigate in My Computer the same as you did the Start Menu (or in any Folder} you choose.

While this is somewhat slower than using the mouse, it keeps you from having to turn off the computer & risk losing data or creating errors.

If you just want to shut down the computer, just highlight [Turn Off Computer] & press [Enter], then select "Shutdown" the same way, & press [Enter].
