I was just sitting around talking with my mom today and she was telling me how she told this lady she worked with that I am into computers. She said that I go to 2600 meets on the first Friday of every month. So the lady asked her son if he has ever heard of 2600. He told her that it was a radical group. My mom came home and told me this. I told her to tell him that he was welcome to come to the meets and see what they are about. His reply was "If I don't want a job later in life" This comment infuriated me. This is the typical comment made by someone that judges something before they research it. This is the typical comment of a person that believes everything the media says. I have been involved in local 2600 meets in the area for about 2 years. I have never known anyone that has been arrested. I can't even think of a time when someone did something illegal. To me 2600 is a team of people with the same common interest. Everyone in the group has their strengths and weaknesses. We share skills and experiences that we have learned to make the team stronger as a whole. Our quest isn't to hack corporations or be terrorists, our quest is for knowledge. I challenge anyone in the area that thinks the same way my moms workers son, to come to the meets. You are welcome to come. Everyone is welcome to come no matter your background. If you still think the same way, then so be it, but at least before you judge something come check it out.
