The experts say they won't interbreed. One person that
posts here ocassionally says his Southern male and
Northern female do produce babies. There is also
claims that the Southern carry a parasite that is
fatal to Northerns. But, my Northerns came with one
female southern so the parasite thing isn't definite.
I've never heard of Northerns being that small. The
ones I have are nearly the size of Eastern Red Squirrels.
