Hi Socrates 13,

Reason, as I understand it, is best defined by Ayn Rand. She defined it as: The faculty that identifies and integrates the material provided by the senses. This ability is provided by the senses. This ability is governed by the laws of logic.

I would highly recommend the following books: Ayn Rand's, Introduction To Objectivist Epistemology. Rand, I believe, solved the problem of universals. In IOE there is a great essay on the Analytic/Synthetic Dichotomy by Leonard Peikoff. *This Dichotomy is the implicit premise you have accepted with your critique of my understanding of reason*. David Kelley's "Evidence of The Senses"(this book will help you better understand why reason as a natural faculty that puts us in contact with the world). And finally, as for Positivism, I would recommend, Brand Blanshard's "Reason and Analysis". This academic book does a thorough job at refuting positivism.

As for God, since reason gives no evidense,(and can give no evidence for a being that has no nature) for the existence of God, what faculty do you have that I lack?

Wayne Simmons
