Subject: 928S euro cylinder wear query

Hi,
My 1982 euro 928S (engine type M2811) has a two thousands of a millimeter wear on the cylinder heads. wear is even and no scratches or defects are evident on any of the cylinders. the "step" is only noticed by touch. All in all, the cylinders show a very good surface texture.

Can anyone suggest whether the condition described above shall require cylinder preparation (honing and surface lapping) prior to installing new rings ? i have no wish of oversizing the cylinder unnecessarily (plus, no one will ever do it properly where I live).

Thanks
Eran Sharon
(usually) happy 928 owner...
