Subject: Way to go!

Glad you persevered and got a deer for the freezer. I took my youngest out on opening day in fog so thick you could cut it with a sissors, he saw a large buck run by him, but had no chance to aim. Most of the week he was in school and I was up North, where I never got a shot at a deer. Today after church (of course) we went out again. Another hunter took two shots at a deer which ran down in front of my son. At first I thought he was the one who had shot, since we previously had not seen any other hunters around. This time he only saw the white tail as it disappeared through thick stuff.
Tomorrow begins the week of muzzleloader, and it is the first year the powers that be are allowing me to take a buck. It has always been an antlerless only week.

Today I hunted with my .357 Blackhawk on my hip. Kind of nice to have the hands free while climbing up a trail.

Again, happy to hear you got a deer! Rev.
