Subject: Salvation or Religion; which do you prefer? (Part 4)

Before going into the Scriptures this morning, I want to lay a foundation for this message. There is a difference between Religion an Salvation!
SALVATION: The act of saving from destruction, esp. the saving of the soul from sin or its consequences.
RELIGION: Humanity's expression of acknowledgement of the divine// a system of beliefs and practises//adherence to such a system.
So SALVATION is when your soul has been saved from sin or when you have been saved from destruction! RELIGION is how we worship God. SALVATIOV is mentioned in the Old Test. 115 times and Religion is not mentioned at all. In the New Test. You will find SALVATION 43 times and REligion is only mentioned 5 times! Salvation must be the most important!
Acts 26:5, Paul spoke of his Religion as a Pharisee, then in Gal. 1:13-14, Paul spoke of the JEWS' RELIGION and how he profited in it above his equals because of his zeal. When He was converted and received the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ, we know that he counted all that but dung that he might win Christ!
Two more verses concerning Religion is found in James 1:26-27, verse 26 says that if any man among you seem to be RELIGIOUS, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain. (27) PURE RELIGION and undefiled before God and the Father is this, TO VISIT THE FATHERLESS AND WIDOWS IN THEIR AFFLICTION, AND TO KEEP HIMSLEF UNSPOTTED FROM THE WORLD. So, there is a PURE RELIGION! These Scriptures cover everything that the Bible says about Religion.
I have already written 3 messages concerning SALVATION and many more could be written. Read Luke 1:68-79: You will find that the LORD God of Israel has raised up an HORN OF SALVATION FOR US in the house of his servant David. Ver. 71: That we should be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all them that hate us; (74) That he would grant untous, that we, being deliverd out of the hand of our enemies might serve HIM WITHOUT FEAR.
