Let me set the record straight about Mariah Carey's vocal range. People have always said that the notes in the 6th and 7th octave are beyond human range but that is bull. If that was the case, Adam Lopez would not be in Guinness Book of World Records for hitting the highest note by a male; a D7! The 6th and 7th octave are possible to reach but only a few singers can reach such vocal altitude, namely Mariah Carey, the aforementioned Adam and Minnie Riperton. Mariah can sing down to a B2 as she did at the end of the song 'My All' from the 'Butterfly' album. That is her lowest recorded note, though she probably has hit lower notes on stage. She speaks in a very deep, throaty manner and so it is plausible that she probably could hit a G2 or even A2. Her highest note is the G#7 in a live rendition of 'Emotions', from her 1991 album of the same name. If you were to watch that performance, you would notice that she was not forcing or crouching so that would mean that she could probably go a note or two higher. It was rumoured that she could hit a C8, which is believable since its just 3 notes away from the G#7. Contrary to what some people might believe, the whistle register is apart of someones range. It is an extension of the falsetto register. Without the whistle register, Mariah would only have about 3 octaves. However if you were to count her entire singing range (which is her full voice, falsetto and whistle), Mariah has a vocal range of 5 full octaves A2-A7 or over.
*Whitney Houstons Vocal range is about 3 octaves and a couple notes:[C3-E6].
*Patti Labelle would have a vocal range of 3 octaves. While Patti can sing higher that Whitney in Chest voice, Whitney can sing as high as Patti in falsetto and she can also hit lower notes that Patti. [F3-F6].
