The rule states quite clearly that if the ball rebounds off the frame and back into the court it is deemed to be still in play. It doesn't matter if part of the ball was inside the goal. Your main concern as a referee is that there was or wasn't a goal scored and that the conditions of the goals are equal for both teams.

In fact, by analysing the exact position of the ball within the frame, then I think it could equally be argued that no part of the ball should go over the line or it's a goal. It's not out- it's exactly where you are supposed to be aiming it!!!!! The goal is the whole point of the game!!!!

Why isn't that the case? Why does the whole ball have to pass through the frame? Because otherwise it's too damned difficult and inconsistent to apply. The current rule is simple and concise, it is fair to both teams and it is practical for referees to apply. The rules are there to simplify the game and ensure that the players enjoy themselves in a safe and exciting environment. Our job as referees is to apply those rules consistently, and to ensure that any improvements are practical and reasonable.

Calling corner balls and goal lines from goal shots will introduce inconsistencies in refereeing. Not every goal is identical and some designs produce more problems for teams and referees than others. We're not here to complicate the issue, and I think the current rule is definitive.
