"Forget the Quaaludes, forget Hotaru's death, just think about what you might leave behind if you go." His eyes are sharp but also pained as he watches her, his grip not loosening one bit. "Without change no one can live, Cirrus, bad or good we all need change and we all eventually adapt into it." Suddenly he realizes how desperately he was holding onto her, his hand let go abruptly. "If you stay, I'll give you anything you want that is in my power. Do you want to challenge a dragon? I'll find one for you. Go on a quest? I'll make you one. Need to get away from Evil Valley and even the dark side for a while? I'll make some arrangements. "

He stops, calming himself. "What has changed that you didn't like?" he asks in a softer tone of voice. "Is there anything I can do? What's the use of being king if I can't even help my own subjects...?" A wry smile comes to his face. "Will you please tell me, Cirrus? Tell me what is wrong with you? The very thing that you continue to refuse to tell?"

Do I start complimenting her? Do we go our separate ways? He runs a hand through his head, watching her with masked eyes. A slow smile wears away the mask. That's future, what's now is now.         She snatches a translucent flute of magnolia wine carefully, lest it shatter once again. Pivoting on a three-inch heel, she flashes her rarest and most ellucidating smile, having settled into what seems to be a long, uncompromising line of happy moods (which there is certainly something to be said for). "Now," she announces as she takes her seat again, "we have all the time in the world." Which is nice. Yes, it's very nice. This isn't a bad night, on the whole. Except for the damn rain. Her thoughts dissolve gently, or perhaps migrate to the south. Whatever. Daydreaming didn't seem to be necessary right then. Her eyes beam shafts of light as she takes a slow sip of the sweet liquor.
