Darshea takes the blade with a grin, and takes out one of her newer whetstones. She slides one side of the slim blade along the stone, slanting it slightly, so that one edge ground against the smooth, soft stone. She made certain to keep her hands open, and her movements precise, for most people caught onto techniques by watching.

When the blade-side was to an appropriate sharpness, which Darshea tested on the thick skin of her thumb, she moved onto the other four sides, getting the entire blade to a sharpness that envied that of a razor. Without saying a word, Darshea hands the blade and whetstone to Etaoin, then hands her a dull knife of her own.

"You've seen what it takes," Darshea remakrs, nodding to the sharpened blade, now see if you can duplicate what I did." It was a lesson she had taught often enough, and if Etaoin hadn't caught on, Darshea would just show her again until she got it right.

Darshea, however, did want a price for the simple lesson; not money, but rather knowledge. "Those Mercs sound like they know what they're talking about, who knows, maybe I've fought with them before. But besides that, I've got a question; you make it sound like you were raised in a high-born stately family; how did you come around to getting involved in the clan wars?"
