Subject: Health Update Author: Maigrey [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] Date Posted: 13/10/02 12:47pm As most of you know from previous posts here and the updates on "What's New", I had that Oral Surgery on Thursday. All my teeth were pulled and dentures put in place. It didn't go smoothly, I'd go into more detail but it's been three days now and everything seems to be improving. The gums are healthy, the clots appear to be healing and the sutures are already dissolving. I'm allowed to keep my dentures in as long as I want [which is all the time] as long as I remove them once a day to let the air in to heal, and to clean up. First try was extremely painful, the Dentist couldn't get the lowers out - the suction was incredible. He ended up using a pick to break the seal. Putting them back on swollen gums was even worse... anyway, today hubby and I worked at it and managed to get the lowers out with a lot less pain [although an icepack and tylenol 3's helped a lot]. The uppers came out easily and went back easily - so that's a very good sign. I have yet to attempt to eat anything other than soup yet. I figure it may take a while longer to toughen up the gums. I want to thank you all for your patience during this difficult time for me, and also for the emails some of you have sent. Anyway, tylenol's are knocking me out - I need to get a little more rest.
