Sometimes I wonder how we got here
Thinking about all self doubt between us.
There was that night we sat and talked
Very late, while I still had work to do
And I found myself sitting in your lap
Pulling your head to my chest
Trying to comfort you�
A selfish excuse to smell your hair
Feel your arm around my waist
Your warm breath on my skin.
I wanted you then,
But I didn't think you'd see me
Hiding under all these layers and curls.
Or the night I dared flirt,
Only to be turned down...
Got so drunk I couldn't make it down the stairs.
You sat with me then too,
Talking very late, me in your lap,
Near tears at the distance between us;
Suddenly heard your soft voice
Telling me everything I wanted to know...

...And here we are.
