There is recent changes from cultivated and non-cultivate farmland into city. The area is the northern San Joaquin valley. The summers are very hot and dry. There are two rivers nearby. Additionally, the immediate area is like zero-scaping with most everything growing being removed and replaced with ornamental stuff. The Yucca are approximately 8 to 20 feet high. The nest is where several branches come together and has eggs (4) about the size of a thumbnail. They are blue with specks of brown. The nest is big for one hand but not big enough for two hands...probably five inches across and rather deep. Sorry, I don't know that much about nests. I think it might be the brown and white birds. One seems to be a look out or something and they get very noisey. I was thinning the Yucca when I saw the nest and checked to see if it was an old nest. When I saw there were eggs in it, I stopped. I think the parent bird may have returned but it is hard to see from the ground level. I think it is ok now. [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
