Subject: Lord of the Rings:Why did Bilbo give all those things away when he had left to go on his journey

Before he had left he had his three companions to pack some things for people to come get them. Then Frodo came in and took over when Bilbo had left. After awhile all these people crowed in the front. They came in and got their gifts. They had their name lable on it. When I had thaught of it he gave away things I wouldn't give away I don't care if I'm going on a journey and never return. So reall why did he give these things away? What was the reason?
