Subject: Not shocked AT ALL at this post. Maybe I’m in the minority, but for years our TC has given older champ dancers her thoughts on the judging panel.
In reply to: be realistic please 's message, "I would prefer this message to the TCs who gaslight prelims or new opens going for the first time that they will recall and then they are devestated when they don't place." on 11:15:13 06/26/24 Wed

TCs know which ADs do and do not like certain styles. They also know about associations and relationships between schools and ADs that aren’t public knowledge. And of course, they know the ADs they’ve burned bridges with who will tank dancers out of spite. There doesn’t have to be evidence of some underground sinister WhatsApp network to make the obvious claim that some panels simply won’t be favorable for certain schools.

Now it sounds like the OP’s daughter was too young to be getting this type of info. Our TC has reserved these discussions for older students who have the maturity and experience to understand these machinations. My advice to this parent is to just explain to their child that different judges enjoy choreography and styles from different regions and that this year, a lot of the judges prefer other regions’ styles. Still bad form for the TC to say this to younger children.
