Subject: I'm glad that dancers don't miss out on their qualifier but the exemption just proves the "restyling" period is nothing more than a punishment for dancers
In reply to: ? 's message, "Transfer Ban - 'One Major' Exemption" on 13:02:14 11/30/24 Sat

If it truly takes exactly six months to fully "restyle" a dancer then the exemption is pointless as they wouldn't be "restyled" and ready to compete on the day they're exempt.

It's also very unfair on dancers to expect them to compete at their best under such circumstances - their first competition with their new school, new steps, new costume happens to be their Oireachtas, and they're not even allowed to do a local feis beforehand as a dress rehearsal? That's a huge amount of pressure. And should they qualify, depending on when they transferred and how their "restyling" period falls, they might then not be able to have a run out at a local feis before the Worlds itself?

The "restyling" period is and always has been a means of protecting teachers from transfers, and punishing dancers for doing so. It won't ever be binned but that's where it belongs.
