Subject: It is the first year, so no one knows. I assume the intent is to give Canadians a true “nationals.”

I think the idea of a true Canadian (and US) National is great. And I’d welcome more “major type” events on this side of the pond.

You don’t have to agree. But if you’d like an event like this exist, then it might be worth trying to make it work. The first year might/could/will be not so great and traveling in Canada that time of year is probably not ideal, so if it doesn’t work for your family, it doesn’t work and don’t feel bad about it.

I can understand the feeling of pressure to attend because I suspect a lot TCs in Canada want this to become a big deal, and the way you make it a big deal is to get a lot dancers to attend. And that effort should be appreciated and not denigrated. So if your dd can’t go, tell the TC you think it is great this event is happening but it isn’t going to work for your dd to attend.
