Subject: It occurred to me that one reason MidAm may be delaying the release of O results is that there are some serious changes coming in at least some of the competitions.

The December 17 statement was oddly and carefully worded. They explained the new WQs and said no one lost his or her WQ or NAIDC qualification, but they didn’t say that there were no new NAIDC qualifiers and they didn’t say that there were dancers awarded WQ and NAIDC-Q who shouldn’t have been but those qualifications will stand (which is the past practice when mistakes have happened). It seems easier to say “no other changes in qualifications” if that is the case.

They were completely silent on other changes in placements other than stating they have “begun to notify” teachers of changes. If there were only a few minor changes, seems like the committee would have said that. If there were only a few dancers who should’ve recalled but didn’t or should have NAIDC-Q but didn’t, they could’ve handled it the same way they did WQs.

All this makes me suspect that, at least in some comps, there are going to be some serious adjustments and the committee thought it better to let everyone enjoy Christmas before dropping the results. The committee may have put out the good news that doesn’t hurt anyone’s placement before Christmas and is holding the bad stuff for later.

Any other theories less cynical than this would that would make the committee’s delay seem reasonable?
