Cait, I'll make it absolutely clear:
in the 3rd Reich, everyone was called to hand Jews over to the authorities so they could be killed.
Some Christians wouldn't, they'd risk their lives in disobedience to the authorities.

Now, I don't know HOW MANY Bible verses one could pull to say that their disobedience is ungodly, I only need to know that these people would have violated God's highest commandment, love, if they had obeyed.

Now, will those Christians go to hell for having disobeyed the governmental authority, without repenting even when they were publically executed?
If you get the drift.

Obedience is no good if it doesn't come out of the heart, and in order to make kids do what you want, you better make sure that they don't just do as told, but that they also learn to understand your reasons for demanding obedience.

Anyone not willing to explain their reasons for demanding obedience is not doing the right thing. And no, one also shouldn't pull Bible verses to demand blind obedience. Otherwise, we're quickly getting into totalitarianism, and if obedience were such a good thing, most of us on this forum would be going to hell for disobeying our "shepherd", the "chapter director" and even worse, the "World Mission Coordinator".
Authority isn't given through pulling a few Bible verses, authority comes through life. If people feel the need to do as you say because what you say is right and good, so be it. But don't blame people for not doing what you want when you don't give them reason to do it.

In Christ,
Mike K.
