Voice of Trent Paul, mind of Paul Hong. Either way, this message is most cult-like. If you see the credits at the bottom, Trent Paul credits his message to the insights of Paul Hong and Brian Karcher (cult defender of Detroit). We can envision this message being cooked up on a Saturday night in PHong's office with PHong dictating or inserting his warped views into the message. Trent Paul is the Toledo front man.

And this is a cult-like message from the get go. It's supposed to be a hard teaching message from Luke 14. But from the first sentence, Trent Paul(Voice-of-Phong) mixes two distinct subjects, namely church (or organization) membership, with the hard teaching message that has implications in our personal life. [my words]

Sentence #1: "As we know, becoming part of an organization [like say UBF]requires paying the cost to be qualified and to participate in that organization [like UBF]- things like money, time, training and commitment"

Sentence #2: "What does Jesus require of those who want to be his disciples? All Jesus asks is: absolute loyalty (26), total sacrifice (33), and no compromises (34). Wow! I thought I was a disciple of Jesus, but based on Jesus' standard, I'm starting to wonder".

Can you see the switch here? Organizational life of belonging to UBF now requires the absolute loyalty and total sacrifice due to Jesus which includes time, money and commitment. And then Paul (Voice-of-Hong) adds doubt "but based on Jesus's standard, I'm beginning to wonder?" Statements like these really pull people into the cult life and confuse them into thinking UBF = Jesus disciple.

I think Trent Paul and Brian Karcher have left their brains at the door in their loyalty and commitment to PHong. Sad.
