On his website, www.priestlynation.com, Karcher continues to rail against former UBF members who question UBF practices and its response to abuse. Rather than questioning UBF, he blames the victims. He thinks everyone who raises an issue is "out to get UBF." He seems to think that all those who point out UBF think it is evil and wish to destroy it.
That is not the case. I propose that those who speak the most are actually the most concerned about UBF, the work of God, and the members of UBF both former and present. If they did not care about people and the work of God, then they would want to leave UBF as it is.
Also, so many of us have devoted so many years in UBF serving Christ and other Christians joyfully. IT IS PRECISELY BECAUSE OF THE GOOD THINGS IN UBF THAT I EXPERIENCED THAT I WISH IT TO COME TO TERMS WITH ITSELF, not because I wish to see it destroyed.
I think if people here seem to emphasize the bad it is because of UBF's unwillingness to come to terms with itself even a little bit. No matter how shocking the revelation, no matter how ill conceived the logic, UBF cynically continues its charade in doing the work of God.
If God does anything through UBF, it is purely by his mercy. God can use donkeys to speak his word, then he can surely use UBF members or myself for that matter.
However, please do not hold up the strawman of former members wishing evil on UBF and its destruction. That is simply not true. Many here have testified abundantly to the grace of God received through their time their. It is the cynical charade of UBF leaders pretending that nothing is amiss that is most repugnent, not teaching the Bible.
Please speak directly and openly about what UBF has done to address past abuse, what they have done to limit it in the future and how they have made peace with the victims, then perhaps you will see a different response?
