Subject: UBF clones
In reply to: Joe 's message, "you don't understand the point here" on 20:47:23 04/09/05 Sat

When I was in the LA UBF there was an attempt made by some students to contemporize the Sunday service. There was guitar, drums and a couple of students led the audience in modern Christian songs. But the UBF missionaries didn’t really like it and they went back to the old stodgy, dull “Hymn 11” routine after some of these students left. This shows one reason why UBF is such a failure as a movement. They refuse to reach out to young people in their own culture and generation. Quite the contrary, they try and make students of today fit their UBF mold. This is why American UBF leaders look and sound so weird. Wasn’t Paul who said he became all things to all people to win them to Christ? Hey, guess what UBF clones….God doesn’t expect every generation to sing the same songs! Wow what a thought!
