Dear Udi99;

I wish you would come forward with your first name (at least), but I do think your questions here are very good.

Personally, I had hoped that when Chris invited all former membership to submit concerns over UBF leadership (please see the 16 question letter) that perhaps a productive dialog might be established between the old UBF leadership and former members. But, it never happened.

I believe that a main problem exists in UBF due their promotion of the shepherding concept. I was in UBF for 10 years. I believed (and still do believe) in the importance of sharing the Gospel with college students.

I do not believe (through my personal experience and witnessing the experiences of many others) that the shepherding concept promotes real growth for any Christian, nor does it support the individual recognition and development of the Holy Spirit.

I do not blame or feel any resentment toward the second generation kid's (such as yourself). Actually, I am very worried because you guys seem to be so angry and defensive toward the former members point of view, when all we want you to do is open your mind and heart to the sins and possible change.

I do not consider the sec. gen UBF member's to be the problem. I think the first generation MUST stand up and publically repent of 1. using UBF membership funds for personal gain 2. Causing female Korean members to undergo forced abortions (which is murder) 3. Force "training" upon members who are perceived as "weak"
or not towing the campus mission line 4. Repent of all physical abuse of both students and Korean members...including those who commited suicide 5. Sarah Barry must confess and repent regarding her full understanding and participation in supporting Samuel Lee's lying to the UBF membership regarding funds, physical abuse..... 6. UBF must repent of twisting scripture to relect pressure upon any member (young or old) that UBF is the only true campus mission church and that if member's leave they will have a "fruitless existance." 7. UBF leadership must confess and repent for interfering in membership families...encouraging disharmony in the family unit to the point of supporting divorce!

My solution to all of this would be to have a delegated meeting between former and current membership with agreement to clearly revise and set up a standards guide for UBF to adhere to strictly. But, I do not believe this can ever happen as long as the shepherding practice in UBF continues. Not to mention the fact that NO current UBF membership is willing to come forward to talk about these facts.

I am sad that Brian Karcher seems to be the mouthpiece for the UBF Americans, when the truth is, he is not responsible for the issues that any of us share concern over.

Please think about what is being written here. If you have any questions, or would like specifics, I want you to do a bit of homework. Check out the testimony section on the UBF ESCAPE website. I ask you to pray before you read the material and ask yourself the following question : "How did all of these Korean, American, German, and India UBF members all see the same problems...all from different chapters...and come to the same conclusion.

UBF is a dangerous cult, but I also believe there are some very good, sincere people involved in UBF by birth...not by choice!

Please write again.
Desiree
