It is great that you met Christ. The issue is not whether or not people can meet Christ in UBF. God can work through anyone or anything. Joseph and Moses both met and grew in God under Pharoah. Samuel met God while under corrupt leaders. Almost all the prophets in the OT met and grew in God while living under corrupt leaders. The same can be said for Jesus. This seems to be the rule more than the exception.

This is to the Glory of Christ that He can make Himself known no matter what the situation, no matter how dark the times, or how bad the leadership. However, this does not excuse corrupt leaders' behavior. They still must confess and repent of their sin even if they pioneer one-hundred-and-eighty-X nations, raise 1000 Ph.D. shepherds, 2000 Billy Grahams, do daily bread every morning for seventy five years, bring 120 sheep to Sunday worship service, write testimony facefully, offer 90% of their income, and eat oyster & squid kimchee with shrimp chips while memorizing 1 Corinthians 15 while walking from Skokie with your barefeet in the snow!

My point: your coming to know Christ in UBF does not excuse UBF leaders from confronting their sin and repenting of it.
