Hello Sahra, welcome to this web site. Thankyou for attempting to answer my questions. I think you are quite brave.
Sarah, apologies are important. In korea I had a personal experience of what an apology can do.
Because of what the Japanese did to the Koreans and other surrounding countries in World War 2 There is still a lot of hatred towards Japan. I was in Dong Bu Presbyterian Church Taegu Korea among a congregation of 2000, when a young ,a Japanese Christian was invited to say something. He stood up and said, "Dear Friends I am truly ashamed of what my country did to yours" Immediatly there were 2000 Koreans on their feet applauding him. After that during the rest of his stay he could do no wrong in the sight of the Koreans. What a pity the Japanese Government wont apologise. Apology in the bible is called repentence, and it is vital, because it is the entry point.
Repentence is a dynamic force that can open doors. It can make enemies friends, it can change lives. It can be the beginning of a weak person becoming a strong person. It is a sign of strength not of failure.
Several writers have offered reasons for this possible change, they may be true or they may be guess work.
Everybody seems to want an apology, this is understandable, but change takes time. Change at the beginning is small, change when it starts is often at grass roots levels, so I would not expect an apology yet. But if we are going to see a real change one will have too come.
Sarah you ask If the UBF leaders apologised would it make any difference to the writers here. Well personally I dont think many would return to ubf, but I would like to see an apology because I believe it is the right thing to do. It would also be an act of humility on behalf of the leaders.
Sarah have you ever apologised for something that you thought you were not guilty of. I have. It didn't do me any harm. Nike, those makers of overpriced, sports footwear have a slogan "Just do it" Its the one good thing I like about them
