Proverbs 28:13
"He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy."
I am a sinner, and I admit it. God does not condemn me in my sin, but he does not ignore it. In the past when I have sinned against him and others he did not give me any rest until I confessed, repented, and renounced my sin.
Being able to confront sin in ourselves is important because no real growth or change can occur unless you admit it. Ask someone recovering from alcoholism. They will tell you that you can't overcome it untill you admit you have a problem. It is the same for any type of addiction or sins such as anger, dishonestly, greed, lust or whatever. Although God loves you he will continue to confront you with your sin untill you admit you have it and ask for his help in dealing with it. It is not out of condemnation or anger but out of love that God wants us to change and that he helps us to change.
The same is true for UBF. Anonymous people can post here all day long claiming UBF has changed in some vague way. However, I do not believe it untill I hear UBF leaders admit that they were abusers and that they did bad things to hurt people. If UBF has really changed they would gladly do this and ask for forgiveness. Not only that they would take genuine steps to control future abuse. Absolutely none of this has taken place. So, UBF cannot and has not changed.
I am not perfect. I am a sinner and continue to cry out to God for mercy for my sins past and present. When I am wrong I apologize to those around me and seek to correct what I have done wrong. Not only that I cry out to God to ask for his help to change and to grow beyond my sin into the image of Christ. It is all very humbly and painful, but it is the way I grow in Christ. Can you honestly say UBF does this?
