Even though we talked a lot about doctrine here, the doctrinal issues are not the main problem with UBF, and even if they were, it would be difficult to see it and pin it down, because in a group like UBF, what they officialy teach and what they teach by their practices is often very different.

There was one teacher who said "We're so concerned with orthodoxy, because out of a wrong doctrine most certainly will follow a wrong practice"
Yes, there is truth to it. If you're not a hypocrite, but a person who lives what they preach, then a wrong doctrine will most certainly have disastrous results. You can check the Al-Quaeda, people who genuinely believe in their warped doctrine to see what is meant with that.

However, on the opposite way, because of the sin called "hypocrisy", even proper, orthodox doctrine is not a warrant for the right practice. You simply cannot know whether a group with the right teachings also is right in their practice, but a group with heretical teachings (even if they are "hidden" like in the case of UBF, veiled into a biblical sugarcoating and coming only to light when you really examine them outside the confines of the UBF environment) will most certainly not have an orthodox practice. If they would, then they shouldn't practice to teach the wrong things...

Orthodoxy in teaching is a requirement for a healthy church, but not a warrant.

As for Catholicism, there are most certainly numerous aberrations in the RCC, but I'd honestly say that while it's aberrant, I would not consider it a cult in the classic sense since (at least in this age, hey, the inquisition is over!) believers are free to decide on their own, to find out things for themselves and to do whatever they feel is right. There's little pressure there and individual freedom is appreciated.

You compare Mother Theresa and "Mother" Barry to see how Catholics treat believers and how UBF treats believers...
