Just to prepare people, here's what you can expect from Barry if she does indeed reply. This is based on what I've observed about her leadership style. She will say something similar to "I do not agree with the practice of constantly praising human leaders, but I cannot stop people from doing it. It is up to them to stop. I cannot tell them what to do." For me that sums up her life in UBF and current leadership style. "I do not agree with [abusive practice] and have heard the complaints about [abusive leader]. But I cannot tell people what to do. I'll pray for you." Don't accept the responsibility that comes with the position of leadership, put the best face on the situation, and just let the controversy blow over with time; that has been her philosophy.

I read this description of Sarah Barry as a "classic codependent enabler" that seems to fit her perfectly: "[Barry] turned into the classic codependent enabler--a role she played to perfection for years, always deflecting criticism from Sam Lee [as abusive father] and acting as a 'safe' outlet ['comforting (spiritual) mother'] for those of us who needed to complain." Lee abused, and Barry offered excuses and "comfort." But the problem is not addressed, and the abuse continues.
