Chris, I tend to agree with you regarding information availability.

Remember the great thing that makes man so unique? It's called "choice". Men do not act according to instinct or according to predestination only, but they can choose.

And all the choices you make depend on the information that are available to you. At least, it should. Then, this is called a "rational choice" ;)

Since the information in the world is infinite, how can we have all information? We cannot. But we can try to get the most relevant information before making a choice.

UBF always tell you to "decide by faith", i.e. decide without knowing the information, without having facts at hand or in some cases - against evidence.
However, the Lord Jesus said "Whosoever buildeth a tower, does not first sit down to calculate the cost lest he findeth himself incapable of finishing?"
This is contrary to the UBF concept of "deciding by faith".
The Lord Jesus wants us to first sit down, consider the options, ponder the facts, delve into details and then decide what is the right thing to do.

As such, it's only okay to use any information at hand.
This doesn't mean only because there is negative information about UBF at hand, one immediately has to decide against UBF - but it means that those who tell you not to read this information KNOW that if you choose rationally after having access to this information, you will not do what THEY want, but that which is right.
Otherwise - why are they afraid to let you read that? If they knew that you'd look at this, consider it bogus and be done with it, they'd set it up for you in the first place. But no - they don't want you to read negative things. Because they have to be afraid that the truth will be stronger than their fantasy world.

So - information is good, but shouldn't be taken at face value. Ponder the information, check the sources, conclude logically.
Then, you're okay.

In Christ,
Mike K.
