Subject: UBF a cult if you let it...

Hi,
I was invited to study the bible with UBF and I have received the word of God in my heart. I accepted Jesus Christ who has paid for my sins on the cross.
I absolutely love God and I only wish to follow him.

I am currently still in UBF. Sometimes I question the intensions of the UBF Leaders in my heart. Are they trying to make disciples of Jesus or disciples of UBF...

The people who are in UBF although were all recruited in the same manner. They were once a bible student. Their life has changed by accepting Jesus. When looking at the outside world it is very easy to see a bunch of hypocrites who call themselve's christians. In their paradigm, it is easy to get the mind-set that one-to-one bible study is the only way. Perhaps sometimes forgetting that God works in amazing ways. Being a part of the same ministry for several years starts to get very partial to that type of ministry.

But here is what the word of God says:
1 Peter 4:10-11
Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.

Sometimes it annoys me when the pastor of the sws declares things like "the best way is one-to-one" bible study.

But then again, I do understand his paradigm. However, it is mutually important for those leaders in UBF to understand God's work throughout all people who love Jesus Christ. For them to understand if someone feels a strong direction from God to work in another ministry.

What I mean is by people can let UBF become a cult is the people who go just to go. Or who go to please other men.
Or go because of their insecurities. Then it can become a cult which they have no idea why they are in UBF, but simply blindly do what is asked of them. When asking a few people why they are UBF, they had no clear answer.

However, me personally. I am here to serve the living and resurrected Jesus Christ. If serving Christ is serving in UBF, then here I am. But I will go where Christ calls me. I had to declare to other members that I am not here for UBF Glory... But only for the glory of Christ Jesus who gave his life for me.

People who are blindly following UBF's ways...take note that Jesus Christ saves from sin and death, and remember why you are doing what you are doing.

If not careful, you could be a "Shepherd" with a cause not to lead people to Jesus, but to be a disciple of UBF.

Merely asking a lot of members why they are here and receiving unclear answers is a scary thought. It is sad to think that if I am called to another mission outside of UBF, then people may think I am abandoning "God". But I will let my life testify, just as Jesus's did.

I have seen tremendous good from UBF. People have met the living Jesus Christ, the perfect sacrifice. Others just accepted UBF ways unknowingly and when finally they see what happened to their life, they leave and decide to write about it declaring UBF as a cult? Did they really ever know Jesus? I don't know. I am not the judge.

As a UBF Leader, I believe it is utterly important to emphasize discipleship of Christ, and not judge others or gossip. I have seen some of these actions coming from leaders.

Beware, After becoming a disciple of Christ, Satan will be attacking you at all times, in minor ways. For some UBF leaders, this could be the cult-like attitudes. The parable of the wheat explains we must grow with weed on top(satan) until the final judgement, in which then the weeds will be removed.

Be aware of Satan who will try to make you fall wherever you are at. Do not become blinded by UBF. Yet blinded by Christ's love.

Many of the cult accusations I have read were merely ignorant. Which is very understandable. Yet on the other hand, they had valid points.

No matter which ministry for Jesus Christ, there will always be people under the control of Satan.

Always test evil spirits.

My conclusion is:
Follow Christ, who is the true light, the only way to eternal life. Love Christ, who has loved you enough to sacrifice for everything which you have done wrong.

People who accuse UBF as a cult? What are you doing for Jesus Christ who has died for you? Paul tells us to die with Christ and become a brother of Christ.

God is the judge, and on the last day, he will know who truly loved him.
