Joe,

Thanks for giving me that information. Two of them showed up where I work; the director, and his number one missionary (the one that recruited me). They were so mellow, they started by showing concerm for me, asking if I was ok and acting like I may have been offended by them. I told them that I believed that the Lord wanted me in another church. I told them that a campus ministry is only for certain ministers that the Lord calls, and not everyone should be a campus minister. The director mentioned Samual Lee and how a UBF member married a person that was not apart of UBF; Samuel Lee was furious.

Also, the director said something that I thought nothing of, until I read your story. He said that one time there was a man (in Chicago UBF) with a skin disease, and Samuel Lee tried to help this man by telling him to do certain things (I can't remenber what). Anyway, this man did not get better and (according to this director) the man accused Samuel Lee for his condition and tried to sue him. The point the director was trying to make was that Samuel Lee was only trying to follow the teachings of Jesus (when Jesus put clay on a man's eyes to heal him). The director told the story in defense of Samuel Lee. I didn't think anything of it because I had not read your version of it. Now I can see that the director was trying to defend UBF and convince me that I should not listen to any stories told by anyone other than UBF. The director even mentioned "arranged marriage", saying that the UBF marraiges are much different than arranged marriages; and he of course brought up Isaac's marriage (Gn 24), suggesting that everyone should marry like this.

I have no desire to correct his theology. I just want to leave UBF (which I have already done). This site has helped me see how they have decieved me, all the stories I heard from UBF I have taken for granted, but after reading stories from this website, I see that there is definately another side to the story, and that UBF has hurt many poeple. It makes me angry.
