The problem you're mentioning has been well-known to both researchers of the cults and psychologists/psychiatrists alike. The phenomenon is called "LOADED LANGUAGE", which is, as you said, ascribing novel/distorted meanings to words in common use. The UBF has been doing this for ages since this is a very efficient tool of mind control. In fact, it is part of the NLP (neuro-linguistic programming), which is a set of tools that allows one to completely control one's behaviour through a seemingly innocuous conversation.
