Bob, it's good to see you aren't afraid to give your name any more. This is a first indicator that you are back to a healthy, Christian, responsible way of life. The fact that UBFins do not write at all or stay anonymous on the other hand is a strong indicator that something is foul in UBF, that UBFins either have no opinion of their own or do not stand to their own opinions. It also reveals their fear of man, their unwillingness to learn and repent, their cowardice and their lazyness and phlegm when it comes to thinking and discussing about the truth.

Do UBFins read the board? Some do. But I guess they only do it to get information about us, they read the articles and postings very superficially and never give any thoughtful reply. Instead, they sometimes become angry, and as Mike indicated, attempt to come to UBF's defense with sweeping statements such as UBF is "God's work" and every criticsm is lie and slander. But when you challenge them to join a concrete discussion, they run away since they know their cult beliefs are based on sand and once they will really discuss and investigate their beliefs, everything will break together like a house of cards. They also started to make their own web sites. I know our web sites are bothering them a lot, like Luther's pamphlets bothered the Roman Catholic church. When there was no Internet, people stayed for years and years, since they had no information about UBF. If I had all these informations, I had left UBF already many years earlier.

Inside UBF, there are efficient (bottom-up) information channels. The leaders are actually informed about everything. When I talked with my chapter leader in Heidelberg, he actually told me (no joke!) that my decision to join reform was bad because I knew only the information from the English web sites, but he said he had read all this PLUS all the Korean web sites (at that time there were many Korean Reform UBF discussion boards). When I wrote an email to reform leaders, a few days later, he already knew and complained about my mail, somebody had relayed it to him. As he told me, he also let one Korean member scan the Internet during his work time in a Korean company, and report him in the evening.

(This by the way shows another inconsistency in their argumentation: They claim that you can only make the right information if you have all available information, but on the other side they try hard to withhold information from the members and feed them with propaganda instead.)

(This also remembers me of another fallacy and mind trick they used with Korean members who complained about Samuel Lee: They simply answer that they knew Lee better because they had been closer for him or longer together with him.)

(All this goes into the same direction: Don't trust your own understanding, don't trust anybody else, don't look for the facts, but simply trust the leaders.)

As rank-and-file member or ex member you don't have such efficient information channels available. Usually, it is not even possible to contact other ex members, even if you had been together with them for years. But the Internet can be a medium where we can share our experience, exchange information and network in helping each other and UBF members to understand what's wrong and how to live a really meaningful Christian life. So far, only few dropouts and members use the Internet. Many members don't read in the Internet at all. Many dropouts simply leave and never want to be remembered about UBF any more.

But we can improve the situation by providing more thoughtful testimonies, more insightful articles, more Biblical responses, more information about the corruption and spiritual abuse in UBF, and also translations into languages such as Russian, Spanish, Chinese. Even in Germany, not everybody understands English well enough, so I decided to provide everything on my website in English and German. I think this already helped a lot of people. Recently I got a reply from a German member who left this year. He said that things did not get better, as UBFins claim, but they got worse. He wrote a testimony which confirmed all of our claims, but is still reluctant to let me publish it on the Internet. That's understandable. Nobody likes to share "negative" things on the Internet. Nobody likes to admit he has been in a cult-like group. But anyway, I think this is the best help we can give to current members, as we would have wanted others to share their testimonies so we could have left earlier.
