Subject: Observations
In reply to: Paul Thomas Evans 's message, "TV Alert for Those in the Columbus, OH area" on 20:52:26 02/20/05 Sun

Three immediate observations:

- 1. Nick's predictions turned out to be wrong, it was even worse. Instead of bringing forth the usual patterns of denial, they refused to answer at all. This however, is another well-knonwn pattern of UBF that could have been easily predicted. It's either denial or complete refusal to talk or to be held accountable.

2. Another observation was that they still pray for "120 attendants" in the clip. This is part of the so called "spiritual heritage" of Samuel Lee. In his last 2 years, he gave all chaptrs the "orientation" to pray for 120 members. In Heidelberg, we also had to pray for 120. Our leader said it didn't seem to make sense to him, but since Samuel Lee said it (i.e. there must be some "higher power involved") he said we need to heed it anyway. So since about 5 years, they are praying for 120 members everywhere. The idea behind is some sort of "number magic". The number was taken from Acts 1:15, and the belief is that if we can achieve the same number as mentioned there, UBF will become magically as successful and start world mission as the first church. It's one of their many number games. And SL is considered a "wise man" because he was able to dig out such "deep truths" about praying for/with 120 people.

3. I also observed that already the first sentence that the "undercover reporter" was confronted with was UBF code language: "Who's your friend?" (translate: Who has recruited you?) That sentence obviously hit him a little bit unexpected. (Who's your friend? Huh?)
