Akartis looks a bit surprised to find Ayrist catching up with him quickly, and as she pulls even with him, he muzzle-nudges her black shoulder, eyes questioning. Then, a noise catches his attention and he skids to a stop, tail arching over his back, stepping in front of Ayrist in a clear movement of protection, though the black femme is well capable of defending herself, of course. Ears flicking wildly, he lowers his head and lets out a low growl as he spots a movement of grey above his head-level. A thunderous bass growl is returned, and a big, square muzzle thrusts out from the foliage lining their path, golden eyes blinking calmly at the four. Akartis rumbles, ears flattening, and then mutters in an aside to his friends, "A Trahe. We might be able to pass." But, alas, this is not to be, for the Trahe drops its massive jaw and roars, the sound blasting Akartis' hearing and eliciting a head-shake from the male. Other than that, the gargantuan beast stays relatively still, though it swings its lean-muscled tail out, a tail blade almost four feet flickering in the muted light, proportional to the Trahe's height of twenty feet at the shoulder.

Akartis growls.
