My point on freedom of speech, really, was that it's on thin ice and ultimately meaningless unless based on the premise that as much as any of us may believe that we are right, we just may possibly be wrong and the other guy may be right. On religion, politics, science, or what have you.

This does not mean that people cannot feel strongly about any issue on any of those subjects, just that we have to allow for the fact that as humans none of us have perfect knowledge or wisdom, and as such disagreement needs to be tempered with some respect. I'll probably have more on this later.
