First, thanks to all who wrote such nice (and not so nice) comments to me. I know I rub a lot of people the wrong way but I figure I have one life to live, and I'd better let people know I was here!
I do NOT put MILK in my borracho beans! Whoever came up with that recipe must have got it from a cookbook. I make mine the way my dear late mother showed me many years ago. Basically, the recipe is: boil dried pinto beans covered with water to your liking (usually a few hours--the more they cook the more soft they get) when the beans are finished cooking, fry 1 pound of bacon until it's almost crisp, put the grease on the side, cut up cilantro (a type of greens, like leafy parsly)--about one bunch then cut and dice a small onion, put onion and cilantro in pan with bacon grease, lightly saute, put into bean pot, add a big handful of salt, about 30 shakes of black pepper, a small handful of chili powder, a shot of tequila and the bacon pieces. Season with more salt, pepper, chili powder, tequila, whatever seasoning you like. Serve in a bowl, with flour or corn tortillas on the side. That's the basic recipe I have used for years. I have NEVER heard of anyone putting milk in the beans, that would be like putting bell peppers in a spicy salsa--ain't gonna work.
Well, al Sadr has given a warning that I hope Bush listens to. al Sadr is fed up with the US occupation in Iraq, and probably will be having help from Iran, if the US military and the al Maliki government doesn't stop killing his followers. And now that the 'white elephant' embassy is ready to be occupied, they have to watch out for "moles" who will probably be putting little bombs in the embassy buildings to go off when the place is filled with people. Boy, this Bush 'fantasy' is going to go haywire. I hope that the embassy stays unoccupied--too many people will be in danger.
What a crappy debate! Geez, I was going to turn the channel after the first half hour. Why was George Stephanapoulos even there? I mean, we all know he worked for Clinton's White House--so why was he there? He should have excused himself as having a "conflict of interest". By the by, who thought up those crazy questions to ask Barack? Come on, how is he supposed to know if his minister is as patriotic as he is (does Barack know how to read minds)? Why did that woman ask him about not wearing a flag pin? Why is she so bothered by that? Answer: in the immortal words of Ms. Chelsea Clinton--"It's none of your business". So Barack sat on a board with someone from 'Weather Underground' while Bill Clinton pardoned 2 of their members right before he left office. Big Deal. Why does Barack feel so 'elitist'? I didn't get that impression that he was being elitist; I felt like he used a poor choice of words to describe the frustration that millions of us have with our current government. He's a man with a family, just like the rest of us; as opposed to Hillary, who has a guy with 'the eye' on other women for years. And I was not impressed with Hillary going around drinking booze and beer and acting like she's the best duck hunter the world has ever seen, and that she's one of the 'common' folk; at least Barack has some decency about him and wouldn't lower himself to becoming a drunken idiot pretending he knew how to shoot off a BB gun. It appeared to me that Stephanapoulos and Hillary knew what the questions and answers would be BEFORE the debate started. Anyone else agree?
I've been signing petitions through the mail and online, protesting how 'fatherland' security Chertoff has decided that he's a 'decider' too, and that he is going to build a wall (I know everyone says it will be a fence, but to me it is like a wall--a wall of hate) across certain parts of the US border. I remember reading that one of Bush's buddies (I don't remember his name) owns quite a chunk of land near the Texas-Mexico border and that his land is NOT going to have a wall built on it, even though it would be a "good place" to have the wall. Very interesting...
I hope that the people of Pennsylvania vote with their brains, not their emotions. I really hope that Hillary will be seen for the person she is--a Republican in Democrat's clothing. She has been known to have had quite a few 'after hours' visits to the Oval Office to visit with King George and Tricky Dick Cheney. Let's see, why would she be visiting them when she is supposed to be following the Democratic principles? Hmm, I am beginning to see a two-faced, double-crossing woman appearing...
I hope to post more comments before I leave for San Antonio. Gee, I realized I usually get to post only 4 times per month! I sure miss reading the messages here, but my husband will call me and tell me about any interesting post during the weekdays.
Has anyone figured out who the trolls are? Have they stopped behaving like bad little girls and boys? If they want to post messages, at least post something worth reading--or at least comment about something important...
