john mccain, as you probably know, is a cancer survivor. he survived a very serious form of melanoma which has killed many people.

i believe that the puffiness you see on the left side of his face is due either to the cancer or the cancer treatment.

in any event it is a reminder of one of the life-threatening disease he overcame.

i bring this up because, thus far, this issue has been pretty much ignored up till now.

but mark my words, assuming mccain wins big on super tuesday (and he very well might) it will be brought up by someone and they will probably make a big deal about it.

it won't be romney of course but but it will "just happen" to come out somewhere.

is this fair?

probably yes. it would give him an opportunity to say he is totally free of the cancer.

in any event, i would think the public has the right to know.

to me what this means is that assuming he gets the nomination, mccain's choice of a running mate becomes very very important.

because it's very possible that the man he choices will be running this country for at least a short amount of time.

if mccain were to have a recurrence of the cancer and even if he was incapicated only briefly this could be very important.

mccain's age has been often mentioned but the question of his health has only been whispered.

i think that what is going to happen is that if mccain starts to look like he has the nomination in the bag the whispers will be getting louder.

(i remember a song called the whispers are getting louder and i think it was by jacky wilson.)

i do not plan to vote for mccain under any circumstances but i am wondering how the rest of you feel about the health issue.

am i making too much of it?

will it be made an issue?

I don't care about his health issues at all. I'm not voting for him because he's a liberal Democrat. (NT)TommymittenzSun, February 03, 2008 8:41:23
