Subject: Her tongue lolling in apparent exertion, the wolfess slipped into a dark crevice formed from fallen slabs of stone.

Relaxing visibly as she curled up in her haven, she put her mind to the task at hand. Abdominal muscles contracted painfully as labor ensued upon the expectant mother. Her bushy tail trembled as she pushed as hard as she could, her teeth gritted with the effort. After an eternity, or so it seemed, three little bundles were tucked carefully against her side as she licked them thoroughly. Lifting her head, she whined, a plaintive call for her mate. She turned back to her new pups, a smile of absolute delight on her lips. Tenderly, she licked each one once more to make sure that they were dry and comfortable.
