my parents checked our temperature regularly. Mostly once a week on Friday, sometimes more often. When I was younger, then all together in our room, later only me (and may be my elder brother separatelly, I dont know). Whenever they had doubts we received suppos and herbal tea and vitamines. Because the doctor said, I was not developing quick enough, I also sometimes received vitamine injections. The temp was usually checked by Mom, but when she called my (step-) father, then I knew to get ready for a shot in my butt. Because that was only done by him. he came with the syringe prepared and I had to lean over his lap. If I already had my pants back on, he lowered it again and then gave me the injection. I remember all details because my bro and I sometimes played it afterwards again. But of course the real one hurted much although my step-father put some cooling gel and patch on the place. I tried not to cry.
