 Our middle school nurse, grades 5 to 7, was by no means mean, she was young and friendly. But since we had to give a urine sample during the physical exam where she would hold a sample bottle to our penis to pee in it would be difficult or impossible to pee with an erection.
Her method was to twist our ear, which seemed to work, although slightly painful.
So it was nothing as drastic as in your case with hitting your penis, although still humiliating.
I got hard in grade 6, although I was still hairless down there, while I was naked being examined by her. When it came for the urine sample she just grabbed my ear and twisted it hard, which seemed to have worked almost immediately.
Did your nurse ever have to use the pencil on you?

Personally, i never had an embarrassing experience with a school nurse. Temps were always oral, unlike at home, where it was always taken rectally, regardless of age. My dad once told me (after a few drinks) that his temperature was taken rectally by the school nurse up to grade 5th grade- about age 11. This was back in the 1950's, when things were
a lot different. Dad said the school nurse would call his mother to get permission to take a rectal temp. She would always say yes. Sometimes, she would even hurry over to the school to talk with the nurse while his temp was being taken rectally!
