I take my RT most mornings after I get up I use vaseline, I use the US-style glass thermometers a B-D Red flash I got on eBay. or one of the other ones I have. I don't like digital or the Geratherm ones either. I don't give myself enemas all that often, though I do have a Bag and hoses, and pipes.

When I take my rectal temperature, I lie on my side and insert the thermometer at least half way or three-quarters of the way. What about you? And do you ever get poop on your thermometer?
I love enemas but they are a lot of work. Would rather have someone else give me enemas. One of my fantasies is to give myself and someone else an outdoor enema. In a secludes place in the woods. That would be hot

Ken, how deep do you insert your thermometer in your ass? Also, what is your favorite position? I almost always lie on my side. And I insert the thermometer at least half way or three-quarters.

about 1/2 it’s length say 2 inches on standard 4 inch thermometer.
I usually do it standing in the bathroom. it’s very rare i will do it laying down.

Thanks for sharing, Ken. I've tried taking my rectal temperature standing up a few times. That was a long time ago. You refreshed my memory. Another thing. I believe a thermometer is actually 5 inches long. I always thought it was 4 inches until I measured it with a ruler several months ago! As far as inserting, I just like the thought of most of the numbers on the thermometer slipping into my asshole while I take my temperature.

Oops! Yes, you're right. It is 4 inches. Ken, I was wondering how you felt about your nudity in front of your mother when your rectal temperature was taken as a teen. Also, as you began to mature sexually, did your pubic hair and other body hair become an issue of modesty for you?

No, never bothered me, I was never embarrassed, or had any problem with people seeing me nude or with pants down while having medical stuff done. It's why find posters on here saying they were embarrassed at age 5 etc. 5 years, ya right.

The veterinary, five inch glass rectal thermometer has been ideal for taking the rectal temperature of an 8 to 10 year old not considered capable of responsibly managing a glass oral thermometer placed in the mouth. It allows deeper penetration and firmer contact with the lining of the rectal interior more so than a standard four inch glass rectal thermometer in that age group. By removing the glass ring off the non-entry end and shaping and polishing it off to a slightly dull point, it looks to be a larger and thicker, four inch glass rectal thermometer. The non-entry end also makes a larger presentation of the non-entry end when in use.
