Wow! you are implying that the Jews made up the idea of Satan as a way to explain away their suffering and to get God off the hook because He was the one who had inflicted it on them in the first place. This is the view of God as a tyranical deity who inflicts pain on people to get them to do things His way. I would no way no how be able to worship a god like that.
My view is different. It is of a good God who loves His creation and who intends only to shower His people with blessings, but because of disobedience His children suffer.
It is not inflicted on them by God but it is brought on themselves for not trusting in the One who could save them. The Father of Lies then perpetuates the thinking that it is God who is bad and of course you will not surely die if you eat of the fruit of the knowledge good and evil, you will instead be like God, you will be gods!
