for all of my dear visitors that are praying for bob and others who have come here in the past, I have included the following for your continued support and encouragement with this site:
bob doesn't come here willingly anymore. I had to go and take his post from another site and bring it here..
"Tim spirituality is simply believing in something you can't touch, see, hear or measure. There is a large portion of this population who would say its imagined and not real. The physical world is the only thing you can prove existence of. That being said I would be the first one to want there to be some magic or super natural forces at work. I just never ever see any thing that makes me believe they exist." - bob 5/25/11 - boysweekend.com
below is my response:
wow, thank God, bob! you have enough understanding in you to be a great believer! I have a renewed HOPE in your salvation...Look what the apostle Paul said under the unction of the Holy Spirit,
"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things not seen." - Heb 11:1
We can't see IT! But we have hope that IT exists, this is the essence of our faith...if you hope for something that seems in the natural realm to be an impossibility, then you are hoping for a miracle! My hope for you is that when you 'see IT' (the impossible), you will in fact believe it! Because that , for many, is what makes a really good unbeliever a believer!
They say, seeing is believing, but for many, like the disciple Thomas, he wasn't convinced by the seeing in the natural. Thomas had been with Jesus (on the earth) when he calmed the storm, fed the 5000 and when he healed the sick and even brought the dead back to life. This is what I call a 'really good' non believer. If you have seen a child being born and don't believe in God, you are a really good unbeliever; miracles are happening all around us everyday! There are lots of Thomas's today!
Some of the best scientists in the world have enough evidence to prove to the rest of us that there is a God, but they don't because they are really good unbelievers! It takes a supernatural event, as you say, for some, to convince one of these that there is a God and that He loves you enough to send His only Son! Have you ever listened to a really good scientist who is also a believer? They are many! Listen to what they are saying, they are scientists for Christ!!
When Jesus Himself appeared to Thomas after Jesus' death he said this:
"Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed." - John 20:29.
Believing can come sometimes as a result of a supernatural event, but it comes most often to those who have the spiritual eyes to see that NOW faith is! It is the substance of things HOPED FOR (what is your hope? - that it is all true?) and the EVIDENCE (scientific word) of things NOT SEEN!
I once was blind...
