Korea: at least 11 chapters are for Reform that I know of
USA: 7 chapters
Japan: 20 of 30 chapters(!) and the national director, John Kim, resigns
Germary: 15 of 29 chapters that are known to me, and only three chapters officially anti-Reform (correct me if I'm wrong, Christoph)
There's never been anything quite like this in UBF history. Keep praying, not just for Reform, but for justice and healing.

Hi, ChicagoX. Thank you for your wonderful information. I am a UBF member in Japan. I love Jesus and some UBF folks. But I think UBF's methods, such as one-to-one Bible study and testimony sharing, are not the Jesus' way but a man-centered and abusive one.
As for Japan, there are less than 20 UBF chapters. I am afraid that the number you mentioned may be that of missionaries in Tokyo UBF. But I am sorry I have no information. Our chapter's leader tells nothing about the reform movement as if nothing happened. I guess our missionaries sometimes talk about it, though I cannot understand Korean. But I still love UBF becaues Jesus loves me even I was His enemy.
May God change UBF to the church full of grace and truth.
Thank you.

ChicagoX: As far as I know by now, 16 out of 34 chapters participate in the german reform commission. This month they still will be quite and wait for a change in the attitude of our national UBF director. If nothing changes, they will begin organized reform next month without his backing.

J-Shepherd: I don't think 1:1 bible-study and testimony sharing and writing is so bad. The problems I see are (1) authority abuse in 1:1 bible-study (2) the enforcement of 1:1 study and testimony writing methods as a "law", (3) overemphasis of those "methods of choice" as the only way to live or grow spiritually, (4) the overregulation of how and how often these methods are to be used (e.g. bible study must be 1 time per week, with questionnaire etc.).

Used in a proper way in a sane environment, those methods can be really helpful.

As apostle Paul said "Test everything. Hold on to the good." This is also my answer to the raised topic: "What kind of post-Reform UBF should there be?" There definitely are
good things in UBF. Without these, no one of us would be here. We should hold on to these, whether in a reformed UBF or a new church. There is a german proverb "Do not pour out the child together with the bath tub." Anyway, the 76 request of reform shows that the evil is deeply rootet in UBF. So I think the reform must be a radical one. The problems are not 1:1 or testimonies. The problems are spiritual abuse, false doctrines e.g. about "the" servant of God and "spiritual order" between coworkers and most of all underemphasis and limitation of Jesus one command to love each other.

There aren't 30 chapters in Japan. I should know better than that. From reformubf.org: 20 of 30 MISSIONARIES strongly support the worldwide reform movement, and John Kim stepped down as director.

In Korea about 50% staff agree with reform.

dear Chicago X and reform-minded friends,

One of the most impreesive feature in the current worldwide reform is that many women of God
are united for reform. Brave American women of God are working hard for reform. In Korea, reform chapters' women of God have decided to wholeheartedly support reform.
In USA, reformers are drafting a blue print for reform. Please tell what you would like to see reformed in this website. Thanks.

(This followup was posted by "News" today. But it was about to scroll off the board with the rest of the thread, so I've reposted it because the news just makes me so giddy.)

By the way, does anyone know the current situation of the UBF in the various European countries? Some of the leaders blackballed the
European leaders conference this month, among them Holland, Italy,
Austria... In the Czech Republic all of the coworkers separated from
the leader to build a reformed chapter. UBF Reformation has already advanced and spread out, still many do not know anything!
